Frequently Asked Questions

Q. What are the major features of the site?

A. The major features are: 1) a mailing list, 2) discussion forums, and 3) a photo library.

Q. How does the mailing list work?

A. If you join the mailing list, you'll get every e-mail that is sent to the list address (everyone@righetti72.com). You'll also be able to send an e-mail to the list and have everyone get it. For privacy reasons, the list is secured (only people that subscribe to the list can mail to it), private (only the administrator can see who's on it), and anonymous (the sender's name and e-mail are stripped out). All messages come from “everyone@righetti72.com”.

Q. What about the discussion forums?

A. One of the problems with mailing lists is that it's hard to keep a conversation going over time. A discusssion forum doesn't have that problem. You don't need to be a registered user to read messages, but you have to register to be able to post. The “Register” button is in the upper right hand corner of the main forum screen.

Q. How can I add a photo to the library?

A. If you only have a few and they are small (under 100kb) just e-mail them to me (btanner@pobox.com). If you have many photos or don't know how to make them “small”, please send me an e-mail and we can work something out.

Q. Can I create new photo albums or upload my own pictures?

A. Sure. First, you have to be a registered user and logged onto the photo gallery. You have to register seperately for the photo gallery as your discussion forum account won't work. I recommend using the same user name and password.

1. Click on the [new album] link.
2. Click on [properties] and give your album a name. Click on Apply. Click on Close.
3. Click on [add photos] and add the photos you want. You can either add the captions now or later. Click on Upload Now
.

As a general rule, you'll only be able to upload to albums you create. The security can be changed to let multiple users upload to the same album using the [permissions] link.

There is a limited amount of space on the server so keep your photos under 100kb in size and don't load too many. If you have any questions, send me a note.
